Edison's new toys... Legos and more

Now for the fun stuff... my toys...

After we've gotten our furniture and Puo Puo has left to go help Gong Gong and Yee Yee (that's what they kept telling me so I would not be so sad when she leaves to go back to NY.)

Mommy and Daddy take me almost every weekend to the mall - CityPlaza! - because the mall is literally around the corner and Daddy likes to know every inch of what is around us. There's a great food court and and year round indoor ice skating rink too!

Anyway... can I say that I have more Legos now. But these Legos are cars! Lego cars. I'm not sure if NY had them or not really because Mommy and Daddy only took me to Toys R' Us once in my life... and that was only because the Pre-School of America pumpkin picking field trip was cancelled. The Lego cars have that feature where you pull back on the car and it goes on it's own! I've been to the toystore more times in one month here than my whole life! I guess it is good to be in Hong Kong!

Of course I have to be a good boy to get new toys... and you know I am...
: )

We've found that 2 of the big department stores here are Japanese - so what does that mean?
Cool robot toys! There sale on these robot toys, so for US$3 Mommy and Daddy bought these robot Zoids. Have not idea what they are, but apparently Daddy likes putting them together... because after the first 3, he and Mommy bought like 10 more.
Anyway, after you put them together you can wind them up and they walk like windup toys or drive like cars. We even have one that floats in water... Mommy figured even though they bought so many, they could be saved for later... little did she know that Daddy would go and build half of them in one day. I think Daddy likes these Zoids more than I do, he said Uncle D and Uncle Andrew would love them. The only thing is there are these decal stickers to put on... they're so tiny that Daddy says he leaves them for Mommy because Mommy loves to do that detailed stuff. Well, I think she does, except these are so tiny it was driving her crazy. She stopped after the first one. Daddy was so excited, he said that the Zoid looked so much cooler... but laughed because he could see where Mommy got tired of putting on the stickers... some started going crooked. So, this is what they do when I'm sleeping. Don't you wonder how I am a normal boy...

The same day we bought the Zoids, I picked a "carpark" with ramps and all - for my many cars... Daddy put that together while I was out with Mommy, then left Mommy to do stickers again. She only put on half the stickers because everything on it was so busy it made her dizzy. Of course when I find the unused stickers I make her put them on anyway. From looking at the stickers I know immediately where some of them go, my Mommy is so proud of her little boy.

Another day, we bought a scooter too. I think Daddy always wanted a scooter or something, because Daddy lugged around this scooter through the mall when all we needed to buy were bubbles and a badminton set. He usually will consciously NOT carry things if he doesn't have to. Anyway, I haven't used it outside yet... but I can use it in the hallway if I like in the apartment. It's not far, but it works.

The most fun thing I have is probably my bicycle. Our new apartment actually has a park right nearby... one with only children's playgrounds and the other with a bicycle path around the soccer field and basketball courts. Mommy picked a not too sunny day and took me to the park. That day was to also give Daddy a break and let Daddy sleep in some, since he wakes up every morning to get me ready for school. I did such a good job! I actually road on my own, with training wheels of course... so much that Mommy chased me part way and her heart would skip a beat if I started not going straight. When we got home, the first thing she said to Daddy was he needed to start looking for a helmet. My mommy just loves me so.

New Apartment

So much happened in March... there's still more.

We've moved into our new apartment in Taikoo Shing... apparently ex-pats have no idea where it is, so we're living with the "locals," and having as the ex-pats say - full Asian emersion Mommy and Daddy actually don't mind and actually prefer it. Mmmmm... maybe because we are Asian...

Anyway - I get my own room and bathroom here. Plus my bed is a bunk bed! We have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a water view balcony and it is almost double the size of our NY 1 bedroom. There's a real kitchen too... so Mommy and Daddy actually cook. Can you believe it? I only thought food came through the front door- delivery not the kitchen in the apartment. And it's all edible. : ) I'm not starving. Puo Puo helped them learn one new dish to make too... but's that's all they make sometimes. They are improving the variety though! I don't have to eat chow faan everyday for lunch at school.

The apartment has come pretty furnished with TV and all. Daddy can't live without TV. Mommy actually likes to turn it off, which you can tell makes Daddy a little crazy... but he has gotten better because he sees I'm much more focused without the TV on. I draw, color and play with my toys... Oh yes my Toys!!! We'll get to that later.

So the only thing Mommy and Daddy had to buy was a sofa for the living room and a bed for the master bedroom. The apartment is a muted gray blue (think of the muted mauve in the NY bathroom and change it to blue.) Not Mommy and Daddy's choice - but it is what it is. Anyway, while Puo Puo is here, they take trips to IKEA. Yes, IKEA - right in Causeway Bay ( the Times Square of Hong Kong.)

They look at futons, they look at sofas, they look at beds.
They try sitting and sleeping on all of them.
They are so silly.

The cost of the 2 sofas they buy costs less than the mattress pad they buy for me, that's because Mommy only gets the best for me... Anyway, they bought the cheapest sofas... but not because they are cheap - but because it was the most comfortable sofa with big seating and it all happens to match perfectly with the apartment. Mommy actually wouldn't mind bringing back to NY... the sofas actually look really nice and modern (they didn't go for the poofy stuff, the frames are actually wood no padding that's probably why so cheap.) Just need to add some real nice pillows and they're done. The bed that they bought was the same - the mattress cost more than double the frame - but it works perfectly too, because Mommy won't bang her clumsy self on the bed posts. The main requirement for the bed frame was no big bed posts for the sake of Mommy's knees.

My Mommy and Daddy are so silly.

School - rough at first, but it gets better

Lots have happened this month!

Let me try to summarize... school... it came in like a Lion but went out like a Lamb - just like the Month of March they say.

I don't like school... but my Puo Puo has helped me going to school almost everyday and packing me lunch. She stays with me through naptime which is a madhouse between lunch and naptime. My Puo Puo also bought me my own pillow with a train on it... it's one of those Japanese Sanrio trains. Then she bought a nice comfy blanket and made it into a sleeping bag for me... I love it.

I even eat better at lunch because Puo Puo packs me a chow faan almost every day. Not like the one time Daddy ordered me chicken feet for lunch, because he didn't have time to translate the menu. Silly Daddy.

School hadn't been as fun as Ms. Lynday's class and I wanted to go back home almost everyday. Here they make me sit down at a desk... plus Mommy doesn't approve of the crayons they give me. She's worried they're toxic... because they aren't Crayola... silly Mommy.

I didn't want my Puo Puo to leave...
After Puo Puo left, it was just Daddy and Mommy in the morning. By now, I'm taking the bus by myself... I cry initially almost every morning that I didn't want to goto school and would cry when they waved to me on the bus. My Mommy was so sad that I was sad. But the bus ladies are really nice to me and try to comfort me.

It was very hard for me, no friends and no one really speaks English except in English class of course. I have learned some Cantonese, but Mommy has no idea what I've learned in Manderin class. Then one day, school sent home a book and I showed her I could read it all. Flower, Rain, Grass, Colored Easter egg... I am begining to read my Chinese characters too! Mommy and Daddy are so proud... they have me read over the phone to my Yie Yie and Nai Nai.

I even earned a "super star" for being a good boy in school... before that they sent home an update to Mommy and Daddy that I needed improvement for my politeness and discipline... what does school expect Mommy and Daddy laughed as Edison is new and has no idea what Chinese class is saying... They love me so and protect me so. They know that I am one of sweetest little boys, kind and considerate. But anyway now, I've improved of course because I know what they are saying and I am a kind and considerate boy.

It's funny when Chinese class sends home notices, Mommy brings them to work so that her co-worker can help translate.

Oh and there was a performance that I was in too. I was a butterfly that fluttered to flowers. I was the best one Daddy said. Of course, I'm supposed to smell all the flowers and the only one who was difficult was Dennis. Mean Dennis. But I had lots of fun anyway. Daddy came to school to watch me in the performance... wasn't totally happy yet so cried a little when he left.

Then there was the field trip to Hong Kong Park - that was lots of fun. I saw fish and turtles. Climbed around in the park. Daddy went with me, so when I got home I couldn't wait to tell Mommy how the turtles waddled like penguins and I showed Mommy how the fish swam.

Another day we had a "Sports Day." It was sooooo hot. Or maybe it was just me. I ran a relay race. I didn't run like my usual la la la - prance prance prance. My team came in first that race! We beat out the blue team of tall pretty boys. (I am the littlest in my class.) I also did an egg race... that was fun, I kept dropping the egg. There was also a 3 legged race that I got to do with my Daddy. By the second to last race... it was so silly. They made me wear a Santa Clause hat and run a race. Silly me ran directly to the right where the soccer balls were, instead of straight. Daddy was laughing... I'm such a silly boy. Did I mention that our team had 3 kids because 2 didn't come to the event. Our team had to run extra legs... so I decided by this race I wasn't going to be a sucker anymore and I run extra times. I already did that. So I just stood my ground and shook my head. Anyway the last time I ran, I was walking by the end... so hot and so tired. Daddy says I'm just like Mommy. When the sun is out and I get too warm - I don't want to do anything... just like Mommy. (except Mommy gets extra grumpy... silly Mommy.)

In the end... my Puo Puo being here really helped me get through school, now I do everything without crying. And... I've made some friends and learned lots of new things.
